Vandalia Glassworks offers a unique and customizable option for those looking to add a little spice to their wedding ceremony. The Process

Couples begin by choosing the desired colors they want to mix at the ceremony. Once selected, the colors will be mailed out and combined during the wedding ceremony. The colors can be returned and made into the final piece(s).

How Do I Get Started?

Step 1: Choosing your colors. Colors are broken into two different categories; opaque and transparent colors. When choosing colors, we recommend using 3-4 colors and a mix of both types. Make sure to check out the colors inspiration page linked below to get a better understanding of how it works. We are here to help with the color selection process. Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions.

Step 2: The final piece(s). We recommend purchasing both the color and the final piece(s) at the same time. This helps eliminate any confusion when the color is returned. On average, the amount of color sent is enough to make five different items. Any unused color will be returned along with the finished piece(s) and can be used again for any future projects.

Step 3: Receiving and returning your color. Each color will come individually packaged for you to quickly pour. The couple will be responsible for supplying their own container for the color to be mixed into along with the shipping label for the the color to be returned.

Cost Breakdown

The total cost depends on a few categories: color, final piece(s), and shipping.

Colors range from $10-$30 per color, and the final piece(s) total will depend on what is made. Final pieces range from $60-$300, not including shipping. We allow the purchases to be split but ask that couples use the same first and last name for both orders.

Returning Your Color

The easiest way to return your color is to place all of the mixed colors inside a plastic zip-lock bag and shipped in the smallest box possible. The glass color is not breakable, so no extra care is needed. Vandalia Glassworks uses two shipping addresses depending on the carrier.

USPS:

PO BOX 513, South Saint Paul, MN 55075

UPS or FedEx:

103 Concord Exchange N, South Saint Paul, MN 55075

Does all of my color get used?

No, not all of your color is used in your final pieces. We use your color to dye the clear glass, so there will always be some leftover color.

In a perfect world, everything would only get made once. These pieces are made from scratch, and we, as artists, sometimes make mistakes. The volume of color sent is more than enough to make just one item, but anything unused will be returned and can be used again at a later time.

What makes the best color mix?

The best color mix is one that uses both opaque and transparent colors. We typically recommend at least one of each as the bare minimum. Glass color does not work like paints, but color theory still acts as a good resource. Colors are made from different minerals and metal oxides that can create chemical reactions that can alter the overall tone of the color. We are here to help; please reach out if you are still determining what colors to choose.

Will my artwork differ from the product photo?

We try to replicate each piece to look as similar to the product photo as possible. However, each piece is made from scratch without any molds leaving room for variation.

What happens if something is broken in transit?

Although we pack your artwork to survive almost anything, we can't control what happens during transit. If anything does break, we ask that you take photos as soon as possible and email them to Info@vandaliaglassworks.com. We will supply a return label for the remaining color to be mailed back, and the piece will be remade at no charge to you.

Creating Beauty From Fire

Glassblowing dates back to the 1st century B.C., being performed in the middle east. Glass has gone through many developmental stages to create different chemical makeups for various industries. Glassblowing was a secret society at one time, and only a select group was allowed to partake. In modern-day society, glassblowing studios have opened across the country, allowing the freedom of artists to create and display their work while introducing the art form to a larger audience.

What Sets Us Apart

Vandalia Glassworks offers a unique and customizable option for those looking to add a little spice to their wedding ceremony. We allow couples to choose the colors that best correlate with their unique style. Although some colors are more challenging to achieve in glass, we can always help narrow down some options that will be a close match.

Unlike other companies, we always send back the color that isn't used in the final piece(s). Let's be honest; glass is breakable. Any remaining color can be sent in for any remakes or future projects.
